When WCKD raids the Right Arm base, she fights alongside the other Right Arm volunteers to defend it. Sonya, along with Aris and Harriet, catch up over dinner, talking about their escapes. Overjoyed, she embraces him, relieved to see him alive. Sonya orders the Gladers on their feet from their hiding places behind abandoned cars, but freezes when she sees Aris traveling with the group. Sonya sneaks up on the ragtag group of Gladers, Brenda, and Jorge along with Harriet, holding them at gunpoint. While investigating the harvesting room, Thomas and Aris overhear Janson conversing with Ava Paige, who reveals that the Right Arm raided WCKD bases and facilities, one of which is likely the location Sonya and Harriet were housed. In the Scorch Trials film, Sonya, along with Harriet and the other members from Group B, were placed in a separate WCKD facility. She escaped to the Safe Haven along with the rest of Group B and the Gladers. Sonya helped Thomas and the others lead the Immunes out of the Maze and through the Flat Trans to get them to the Safe Haven. This is based off the fact that she was assigned to one of the rooms with Aris and a couple of other Gladers to remove the Swipe. In The Death Cure, though never directly confirmed, Sonya was given back her memories. He cries, wondering why WICKED keeps them apart, and Lizzy tries to comfort him, saying that as the older one, he should be comforting her. When she is twelve years old, Newt, with the help of Thomas, manages to enter her dorm through a secret way and say goodbye to her before he enters the Maze. She is not allowed to see her brother, but unbeknownst to her, Newt often sneaks around at night and spies through a window into her dorm, making sure she is all right. Lizzy is put in Group B and renamed Sonya. Newt hugs Lizzy tightly as they are both taken away. Someone says that Newt could also be useful as a control subject. Her dad shoots one of them in the leg, but a woman pulls out her own weapon and shoots both him and Lizzy's mother dead. WICKED agents force their way into the basement and demand that Lizzy be handed over to them. WICKED has somehow become aware that Lizzy is immune, but her parents have refused to give her up. I do! I need those goddamn answers. In the prologue of The Fever Code, a young Lizzy is living with Newt and their parents in a basement. For obvious reasons, you would want to continue the series. Overall, I would say that it is a decent book but lacked the thrill of the first one. I hope the third book does not comes up with another trial because I now need closure on so many things. However, I’m still not sure where all of this is leading. It was something I had missed a lot in The Scorch Trials. A lot happened and I could feel the same rush of excitement as I had felt while reading The Maze Runner. Also, I believe it picked up pace towards the end. Thankfully the plot twist created a great deal of interest in me. His character received a major shift and the whole sulky romance angle was off the mark. I also felt that Thomas was not the hero I had thought in The Scorch Trials. There should have been some sort of achievements or the sense of contentment somewhere but the continuous torture was a put off for me. I really felt bad for the characters who kept doing things and running for no reason at all. It had its moments but at times it appeared dull and dragged unnecessarily. This book felt a bit repetitive of what we had already read. There was also this curiously bothering mystery around WICKED. I was on the edge of my seat while reading so many pages. The Scorch Trials is not as good as the first book. In addition, there are a lot of secrets that will unfold with time. It’s a little hard to fathom but what choice do they have? However, it also means that freedom might not be as near as everyone had imagined. These trails can somehow offer a cure to the disease. A disease ‘Flare’ has conquered the entire population, driving them to murderous insanity. They also realize that the earth is a wasteland now. Phase 2 – The Scorch Trials await them ahead. They realize that they are a part of a huge experiment where they have only cleared phase 1. They had expected that they would get their lives back. Thomas and other Glader were sure that the end of the maze meant the end of their miseries as well. My Rating: 3 It seems that the Maze was only a beginning.
